Robert Ballou is a mindfulness evangelist.
He is the founder of Move to Meditate, a 501c3 non-profit, founded to encourage mindfulness and Martial Vinyasa Arts, a mixed martial art that fuses Wado Ryu Karate and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
Robert began his journey in the martial arts in the fall of 1988 by taking a karate class at the University of Florida. Robert continued his training at the Gainesville Karate Center. Upon graduation, Robert moved to Hollywood, Florida where he trained in Mu Do Kai and Cuong Nhu. Cuong Nhu is truly a mixed martial art, combining seven different fighting systems and it serves as his base for fusing yoga and karate. Additionally, Robert has been blessed to study Isshinryu and Neisei Ju-Jitsu. With over 30 years of various martial arts system experience coupled with yoga instructor certification, we truly believe Robert is uniquely poised to present and continue the legacy of martial arts instruction through the practice and instruction of Martial Vinyasa Arts as our founding and master instructor.
